Downtown Courtenay is the perfect place to get into the spirit of the season and Friday November 18th is the perfect day to do it!

Head to the heart of Courtenay for a community celebration in one of the best little downtown's on Vancouver Island! Moonlight and Magic welcome residents from across the Comox Valley and visitors from across the Island for a festive and fun filled night!

The shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants of Downtown Courtenay have never looked better. With many new businesses on the street, and exciting new offerings from long standing ones, this is a perfect time of year to check out what Downtown Courtenay has to offer!

mmposter-jepgCome and explore the unique, eclectic, delicious and quality offerings from local merchants and then stick around for the festivities! From 5-9 pm (and beyond) Downtown will be alive with music, "Moonlight Tent Parties", roving performers, merchant specials, dance parties and merriment for all ages! 

Things kick off at 5 pm at the "Union Street Moonlight Tent Party" (sponsored by Union Street Grill and Grotto) at 5th and England with the Comox Military Wives Choir followed by the official lighting of the Downtown Courtenay Christmas Tree. Join the mayors from Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland, with Comox Valley Poet Laureate Kevin Flesher for the official kick off of the season. Choirs, music (and dancing!) continue at 5th and England well into the evening!

Over at the Comox Valley Art Gallery on Duncan Ave you can take in the opening night of the 42nd annual Comox Valley Art Gallery Christmas Craft Fair and then kick back and enjoy some beautiful music from Anela Kahiamoe and Helen Austin from 5:30-7:30 on the plaza.

Gather round the campfire and enjoy the festivities on the Duncan Commons! At 7:40 take in a special "Pop Up Choir" Performance with over 75+ choral singers who are visiting the Valley.

Then experience the amazing Moonlight and Magic Live Fire Performance at 7:45 from NOVA Fire Spun Arts! This fiery spectacle has become a much anticipated part of the annual Moonlight and Magic celebration!

mmlady-kThe Corner of 5th and Duncan is home to the "Planet Atlas Moonlight Tent Party" sponsored by Atlas Café, with amazing dance music all night from local DJ LadyK! LadyK’s sets include music from around the world, including dancehall, soca, Afro house (Kwaito sound), bhangra, moombahton, cumbia, Baile funk, tribal house, Brazilian bass music, UK Garage and blistering tropical bangers.  Stop by and join the dance party!

The patio at Mudsharks, Gladstone and Guerrilla Pizzeria is home to the "Imperial Square Moonlight Tent Party" during Moonlight and Magic. Generously sponsored by the 3 businesses that share the square, you can bring your family down for performances by the Comox Valley Children's Choir, the incorrigible Captain Thunderpants, Magician Greg Ladret and local family band The Cassies!

Then at 8:30 the action moves over into the brewery with more live music from Marisa Schorno, Road Side Rattle and other special guests.

Over at Cornerstone you can take in some brilliant tunes from local favourites Easy Street followed by the incredible talents on piano, guitar and vocals of Ryan Castle and Nicole Borowicz .

Up at Billy D's Jilli Martini takes the stage with some awesome tunes.

Poke your head into Bricks and Mortar on Cliffe Ave across from the Sid for a "Salon Night" at this cool tech hub.

Drop by the new home of A Gemstone Hair Studio at 5th and Duncan for a mini craft fair and warm up with some  delicious Hornby Island tea by donation to the Cumberland Forest.
