Local writer, Donna L Bennett, is one of the poets chosen for the Campbell River Art and Nature festival happening this month.

“The excerpt” she explains, “is from a longer piece entitled McLoughlin Gardens that I wrote while visiting this Regional District park with the Comox Valley Writers’ Group last May.  The setting on Williams Beach is a beautiful juxtaposition of a former family home and farm with the beach and view across the Strait.  The McLoughlin family have gifted the Comox Valley with quite a gem and the family home has now become a venue for Artists in Residence.”

The excerpt of my poem has been stencilled on the storefront of the Needle and Arts Centre on Shoppers Row and I’ll present it at the Patrons of the Arts soiree at the Campbell River Museum Sept 21.”  Donna L Bennett’s poem “Glacier”, about the Comox Glacier, will be published in the Victoria literary journal “Island Writer” in December.
