CYMC is excited to announce a new scholarship in partnership with the Georgia Straight Jazz Society(GSJS). The award is named after Liam Grimm, a jazz trumpet player who lived in the Comox Valley and who’s widow resides in Campbell River, and will be a $500 scholarship awarded to promising young musicians planning on pursuing a career in jazz music.

The candidate will be a student who is attending CYMC’s Island Jazz Intensive and will be selected by Dan Craven, head of the Island Jazz Intensive and Ryan Oliver, Executive Director and Jazz Faculty member.

“The Georgia Straight Jazz Society is a cornerstone in the Comox Valley community, presenting incredible concerts through their season every Thursday night at the Avalanche.” says CYMC Executive Director Ryan Oliver, “We’re delighted to work with them to help a deserving student attend our Island Jazz Intensive.”
