This year, Tracy Kobus will be the Feature Artist at the Filberg Festival, August 1-4th.  In her paintings, Kobus explores humanity’s relationship to the land and the mystery of wilderness.  Her most recent work is a reflection on the time she spends in forests, often mountainbiking – some of the funds from this work will go to the Cumberland Forest Society.

Tracy Kobus holds a BFA from UBC (1993) and her work has been exhibited in public galleries in Canada; including the Two Rivers Gallery in Prince George (2000), Comox Valley Art Gallery (1998, 2002), Campbell River Art Gallery (2003) and the Nanaimo Art Gallery (2000).  She has also participated in several artist residencies including mentorship by artists; Peter VonTiesenhausen, David Alexander and recently with Landon Mackenzie.  Commissions include; Vancouver Island Musicfest (2010) and murals for Cumberland Village Park (2010) and for the City of Courtenay (Lewis Outdoor Stage 2013).

Kobus currently lives in the Comox Valley with her husband and son and works in her home studio near the Puntledge River.  You may find her art work at the Comox Valley Art Gallery Gift Shop, her annual Open Studio in November or various events throughout the year.  You may follow Kobus’ blog or monthly email news at
