Join Susan Schaefer for a fun day of exploring flowers – exciting to paint with their showy colours, curvy lines and forgiving designs. This class is all about the technique of glazing and layering.
Susan will start off by talking about design and students will be encouraged to make a few quick thumb nail sketches to help in this process.
Once the designs are ready, Susan will show students how to do make a strong drawing on the canvas, as this is the foundation of the painting.
Next, students will start glazing by mixing the paint with medium. Slowly the painting will be built up, one layer at a time, keeping it simple in the beginning. As the day progresses, students can get as detailed at they like.
We will also talk about the difficult decision of knowing when to stop!
Susan has been a professional artist for the past 19 years and she is best known for her bold, colourful paintings. Her teaching method is relaxed with positive and fun interactions while paying close attention to individual needs. To see more of her work, check out Susan’s website: susan-schaefer-fine-art.ca
