Acrylic Painting 2 – Still Life
In this series of classes we will be using various forms of still-life painting as a way to explore aspects of colour usage, composition, and paint application/exploration. Within the parameters of a still-life painting (a work of art depicting inanimate subject matter) there will be a lot of freedom to explore things of personal interest to you.
The first few classes will be focused on sharpening your observational and material-handling skills through quick studies of groups of objects that have been provided by the instructor. The last two classes will be devoted to creating a more in-depth painting using objects that are of personal interest to you. In the final painting we will be exploring the useful aspect of creating an underpainting to then launch into your chosen use of colour and paint application.
This class builds off of the skills covered in the Acrylic Level 2 classes with Jess and adds more room for including your own interests and personal artistic pursuits. If you’ve taken a couple of Jess’s level 2 classes, you’ll be perfectly suited to expand your painting skills in this class with Scott! (Even if you haven’t taken a class with Jess, but have a bit of experience OR have taken the Very Beginner workshop, you will be perfectly suited to this exploration of still lifes!)
