Summer Sewing, Doll Camp
August 16 @ 9:30 am - August 19 @ 12:00 pm PDT
Tuesday August 16-Friday August 19, 9:30am-12pm
If you’ve got a kid (ages 7+) with boundless imagination, an urge to create and a desire to improve their sewing skills, making dolls is the prefect Venn Diagram for them!
We will create unique dolls using our great pattern by Jennifer Jangles, which is structured enough to create a sewing challenge, but plain enough to add all kinds of personality! We will have some elements cut out in advance, and kids will also learn to work with small pattern pieces and some very accurate sewing.
Skills we will build include hand-sewing, embroidery, applique, following patterns, design, trimming and finishing, stuffing and making small clothes! We use locally grown wool to stuff our dolls, and natural materials for the sewing. All materials are included in the class fee
Although dolls are fun for kids of all ages to play with, this class is best suited to kids who can focus on a detailed craft for 2.5hrs a day, and who have some good fine-motor skills; tying shoes confidently, or doing crafts like origami are good indicators that the project will not be too finicky and frustrating for them- it’s all about finding the right level. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you want to chat about the camp for your kiddo.
