Creating Connection Through the Arts

At Motif Music Studios, a collaborative music education hub in the Comox Valley, it is one of their core values to create connection through music.  This local music school was challenged to view music education in new ways this Spring.

For studio owners Jeff & Amie Webster and their dedicated team of passionate educators, they felt deeply that connecting with students during uncertain times is of immense value and offers stability, encourages creativity and provides interaction through the arts for students of all ages.

Shifting to an online delivery of lessons proved to be a steep learning curve, but teachers and students adapted beautifully and new ways of learning became part of a weekly process of growth and a collaborative learning process to customize delivery for each individual student.

This Fall, educators and families at Motif Music Studios will be solely online for lessons.  The online learning process will look different from their in-person programs, but Webster mentions that “Motif teachers are witnessing wonderful ways that online lessons are honing the delivery of engaging, interactive lessons and creating lessons that will help students shift into music making in new ways to continue connecting through music for years to come.”

Motif Music Studios will be launching into the new music year by utilizing a brand new music learning portal.  This program enables students to stay engaged in their weekly lessons with customized lesson content, easy viewing of practice aids, audio recordings and video demonstrations as well as all student assignments in one place.  This special music learning program will increase engagement and allow for new music exploration and the merging of technology and music to create students with a lifetime appreciation of music.

Motif teachers look forward to a wonderful music year ahead as they encourage students in life and music.
