Artist Talk – Gu Xiong – June 24

On June 24 at 1:00pm join international multi-media Artist Gu Xiong in Cumberland as he speaks about his work which encompasses themes of migration, identity creation, and dynamics of globalization.

Gu Xiong’s practice centres on the creation of a hybrid identity arising from the integration of different cultural origins.

Professor in the Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory at the University of British Columbia, Xiong’s work is represented in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the China National Museum of Fine Arts, and the Vancouver Art Gallery, among many other museums and private collections.

The presentation is brought to the community as part of the Cumberland Museum and Archives Miners Memorial programming.
