Your Arts Council ~ The pro-active, leading force behind the promotion of arts and culture in our community!
OUR MISSION is to animate the arts in the Comox Valley by: acting as a resource for the arts community; informing the public about the arts; and celebrating the Comox Valley as an arts producing centre.
The Comox Valley Community Arts Council works to facilitate, activate and advocate on behalf of arts and culture in our community. Through our involvement in a wide variety of activities, we pro-actively support the cultural creators and workers of the Comox Valley.
The Comox Valley Community Arts Council, which also operates the Muir Gallery, is a registered charitable non-profit organization that receives public & private funding to sustain and grow its programs, and for general operating costs. Additionally, we raise revenue through memberships, fundraising events and art sales.
We co-ordinate and co-sponsor art shows and workshops, literary projects, public art, performing arts events and children’s programs including the Youth Mural Mentorship Project and Kids Fest. We also take every opportunity to promote our member groups.
Going forward in 2013 we look forward to enlivening the cultural fabric of the entire Comox Valley with more activities, professional development for artists, public arts connections and more! Stay tuned!
The Muir Gallery is host to a variety of exhibitions featuring community artists as well as community and regional juried art shows. The Muir Gallery is also host to literary events, workshops and presentations.
